Boothankad Estate came into existence in the year 1924 in Chikmagalur district, Karnataka, India. Its family members have constantly been undertaking agricultural activities to keep agriculture in the forefront for over 90 years. Boothankad, along with several other estates namely Boothankad Plantations, Kalleshwara Estate, Beetekad Estate, Devnath Estate have been developed and brought together to form Boothankad Group of Estates (BGE).
Boothankad Group of Estates have been able to produce rich quality Coffee along with other crops like Pepper, Gooseberry, Vanilla, Annatto, Turmeric, Patchouli, Banana, Cardamom, Orange, Pineapple, Coco, Areca nut, Coconut, Paddy etc.
Several agricultural training programmes are held at BGE and many such programmes have been broadcasted in Akashavani, Dooradarshan and several other TV channels. This estate has also been a place of learning for visitors like students, professors, horticulture officers, environmentalists, agriculturists and foreigners.
BGE have always been devoted towards conservation of nature by pioneering in organic farming and manufacturing of organic manures under the brand name HASIRU. Along with this, BGE has been producing good quality saplings and seedlings for plantation crops, horticultural, medicinal and aromatic plants which are in great demand for its quality, reliability and reasonable price benefitting farmers and agriculturists.
